Robin Beck is the author of Chiefdoms, Collapse and Coalescence in the Early American South. He is Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Assistant Curator of North American Archaeology, Museum of Anthropology, at the University of Michigan. He has conducted archaeological fieldwork in much of the eastern United States, as well as in Bolivia, Peru and western China.
