Erik Meijaard is Chair of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature's Wild Pig Specialist Group and the IUCN Oil Palm Task Force. He is an Adjunct Professor at the Center of Excellence for Environmental Decisions at the University of Queensland, author of six books and 197 scientific papers, and a frequent writer in popular media. He has been influential in conservation policies and public opinion about them, especially in South East Asia.
