Stephen Pihlaja is Reader in Stylistics at Newman University Birmingham, where he also serves as Head of the Humanities Research Centre. His research focuses on the dynamics of discourse, or language in use, particularly as it relates to religious identity. He is the author of two books on interaction on social media: Antagonism on YouTube (Bloomsbury, 2014) and Religious Talk Online (CUP, 2018).
